Everybody is hot for what they call Social Media. You know, things like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Flikr and now Google+.

I started way back in 1987 with a dial-in bulletin board system called Chat Line. This was social media of the 1980s and set the stage for today's Facebook and Google+
Being a complete nerd, I'm excited about that stuff too and have really immersed myself in it. Sure, there's real work to be done but why bother with that when I can do promotions and interact with others all over the globe on things like Google+ and Facebook?
In all seriousness, I use these tools to help promote my own businesses and that of others, too.
Here are a few examples of ow I've used Facebook to success.
Featherbed Railroad
The Featherbed Railroad is a unique Bed and Breakfast Resort in Northern California's Lake County wine growing region. Like so many other businesses, it has a Facebook fan page which I am in charge of.
Using effective interaction with the fan base on that page, we have managed to sell a noteworthy number of room nights and reinforce the positive experience of our guests. We have also successfully integrated a Constant Contact subscription e-mailing service into our Fan page which generates enrolled prospects and clients for the business. These tools have definitely resulted in a noticeable increase in the bottom line.
Oktoberfest-Lakeport
I also have responsibility for promoting Oktoberfest in Lake County. This annual celebration reflects the fun and silliness of its counterpart in Germany, but is smaller (for now).
Oktoberfest has its own website which I've designed. It also has a Facebook Fan Page, also under my tutelage.
Other Facebook Pages
I've got a number of other Facebook fan pages which I'm responsible for including:
Clearlake Cruise-In Fan Page - a car show fan page
Sounds Like FUN! Entertainment Fan Page - reflecting our DJ company
